Episode 10: Kingdom of God - Its Structure & Priorities
Welcome to Transform Your Inner World - Episode 10: Kingdom of God - Its Structure & Priorities.
In this episode, we'll look at the profound structure and priorities of God's Kingdom. The Kingdom of God, like earthly kingdoms, has a hierarchy and functions with order and purpose.
Kingdom Organisation:
Every government, from nations to households, has a structure that keeps things running smoothly. The Kingdom of God is no exception. We see a glimpse of this structure in Revelation 4:
- The Father, seated on the Throne, is Supreme.
- Along with the 7 Spirits of God, Jesus stands before the Throne.
- The throne is guarded by cherubim and seraphim.
- Around the Throne is a council of 24 elders.
- Archangels such as Michael, Gabriel, and others have powerful roles.
- This order includes angels and earthly governments, all of which are subject to God's ultimate sovereignty.
Priorities of the Kingdom:
Every government strives to meet the demands of its population. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs describes humanity's basic needs:
Every government aims to fulfill the needs of its citizens. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs outlines humanity's fundamental needs:
- Water
- Food
- Clothing
- Housing
- Protection
- Security
- Preservation
- Self-actualization
- Significance
Through social programmes and appeasement, both governments and religions seek to address these requirements. However, Jesus called this focus into question, showing the Kingdom's distinct priorities.
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus encourages us to seek God's Kingdom first. While human needs are important, Jesus instructs us to put spiritual alignment with God’s Kingdom ahead of earthly striving. He assures us that while we seek His Kingdom and righteousness, He will provide for our physical necessities.

Recognising Jesus' Priority:
Jesus invites us to a revolutionary shift in emphasis by encouraging us not to worry about these basic needs. He recognises that our earthly concerns frequently absorb our thoughts and deeds. He emphasises, however, that desiring God's Kingdom—His dominion and reign in our lives—aligns us with a higher purpose.
A Broader Perspective:
Seeking God's Kingdom entails accepting His authority over our life. It entails seeking His righteousness and living according to His ideals. This shift in emphasis changes us from the inside out. Instead of worrying about provision, we can find rest in knowing that God is our ultimate provider.
The Promise:
Jesus says that if we align our hearts with His Kingdom plan, our Heavenly Father will provide for our physical necessities. This is not a guarantee of luxury, but rather a consolation that God is acutely aware of our needs. We are liberated from the shackles of materialism and anxiety by making His Kingdom our first priority.
Practical Application:
This does not imply ignoring our responsibilities or discounting our physical necessities. Rather, it's an encouragement to face these demands with faith and surrender. When we have our sights set on God's Kingdom, we find contentment in His provision, even in the face of life's difficulties.
Takeaway:
Understanding the structure and priorities of God's Kingdom changes our perspective on life. We are summoned to:
- Recognise the divine hierarchy of God.
- Rely on God to supply our necessities.
- Prioritize spiritual alignment over material pursuits.
- We discover a life of purpose, contentment, and trust when we make Jesus our priority.
In the next episode, we'll go over the Kingdom principles that guide our lives.
